Dear Yumiko. Do you remember this?

My friends are the lucky owners of a little house at the end of the world. It’s so small that they call it the “witch house”. In former times it was the house where the day laborers were bolted in during the night. Later it was the school for the village children and the office of the mayor. It’s my favorite destination for peaceful weekends with the children or to record music. Like “That’s All”.

I don’t know how many different versions i have recorded of this track. The first points back to 2006 – the sad days of “Ohne Titel 1916″. Nearly everyday i spent my free time in the woods around the city at this surreal place. I have no idea what these objects could be. Is this art? Is it a home for animals? Is it a forgotten campfire?

Two years ago i had my studio at the Parish Hall in Loschwitz. A very mystical place and the time stood still inside this building. I think since 1970. “Lament” was part of a very long piano improvisation i recorded there one day.

Reiser is a very small village near the place i was born. When you leave the village, a path goes through a little valley, passing a fountain (not very deep but with a nice color) and ends on a hillside. There you can find little fossils and in summer its very dry and hot. My father showed me this place when i was a young boy and i spent a lot of time there. Some years ago i showed this place to my son Louis. I am sure he understands the special meaning and the magic of this place. Every summer we’re collecting stones, snoozing in the sun, watching silly butterflies. Every summer back to childhood.
